Wimberley is located in the center of Hays County on the Cypress Creek and the Blanco River on Ranch Road 12 about half way between San Marcos and Dripping Springs — that 60 mile drive is still mostly through ranch land but the town itself is a lot about shopping. On the square or for Market Days.
Furr-Line is a new shop on square catering to cats and dogs. The pet shop sells food bowels, collars, and cat-themed items. It fits right in this tourist destination community.
Wimberley was incorporated in 2010 and now, after 11 years, it has four red-lights. At each installation of a new signal light, some of our small town flavor fades.
But Wimberley people are cat people. Some merchants on the square cooperate in a Trep-Neuter-Return program to have the cats fixed so they don’t continue to overpopulate the area with kittens. Partly because Wimberley does not operate an animal shelter so caring for lost pets is up to the citizens. And Wimberley is home to Animal Referral Friends, a non-profit clearinghouse for lost and found pets.
